"Corazones"

As a fundamentally visual person, the artist statement feels almost like a contradiction. And yet, there is an undeniable need to offer words—unsolicited though they may be—to gesture toward the thoughts and feelings that have given rise to the three bodies of work. I have been developing in tandem over the past few years. All of these works were completed within the last three years.

What drives this work? It is less a single intention than a need: to clarify evolving ideas, to capture a current understanding of life, emotion, and transformation. The process involves resurrecting concepts I have explored in the past while allowing new ones to emerge and take root. The work exists in that in-between space—where memory, change, and renewal intersect.

I am often asked what connects me to an energy flow, what initiates a piece. The answer is not entirely rational. A desire is awakened—an insistence—that draws me toward what feels like the poetry of everything. This is the essence I seek to convey and contain within the work.

Like a spell broken.

I make art because I must.
